Nancy was classically trained but branched out into multiple music styles in her teens. Between getting her degree from the University of Chicago in the history and philosophy of science and her law degree from the University of Michigan, Nancy spent two years in Italy, singing and writing shows with an Italian cabaret troupe. She has worked for international law firms, the Ford Foundation, and the U.S. Congress, while maintaining a parallel career of performing songs, sometimes satirical, arising out of her work. Her prose articles have appeared in numerous journals, magazines, and books, and she has performed for over 20 years at conferences, public concerts, and spiritual events in sixteen countries. She has released two earlier albums and been featured on radio and television. With her husband, cosmologist Joel Primack, she has for six years co-taught an award-winning course called Cosmology and Culture at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In their course and in a book they are co-authoring, they explore possible cultural impacts of the radically counter-intuitive new picture of the expanding universe. They have given many public lectures together, combining speaking and music. Nancy has been interested in sciences border with the spiritual since studying with Mircea Eliade at the University of Chicago. She works as a scholar to put the discoveries of modern cosmology into a cultural context and as an artist to communicate possible meanings at an emotional and spiritual level. On some songs she reinterprets ancient ideas in light of the modern world. She lets the meaning of the story determine the musical style. Alien Wisdom is in some sense visions for the future consistent with modern science. Recent performances include the State of the World Forum in New York (Sept. 2000), Cambridge University and University of London (Oct. 2000), the Conference on Faith in the Future, sponsored by the government of Iceland (July 2000), Beyond War (Mar. 2000), University of San Francisco ( Feb. 2000).
